When we first moved into this house from our previous condo, we would say,
. Getting around the table required a shimmy from the side, and to be honest, we got tired of banging our chins on the edge. Ouch!

We were without a table for many months waiting for the right one to come into our lives We wanted something rounded to mimic the curves of our blue sofa, and our choice was to break up all the gray. There was no rush, but any time friends would pop by, there was always that moment when we’d all realize we didn’t have a place to conveniently set our drinks down. (Isn’t it funny how clever coffee tables can be? What kinds do you have in your house?) Meanwhile, DIY hairpin legs arrived, and they asked if we’d be interested in trying their legs. We were impressed with their selection (and one of the lowest price points we’ve seen!), and in the end, the DIY decision couldn’t have been easier. Here’s what we did:
Round White Oak Herringbone Dining Table With Hairpin Legs
We bought a 32″ pine round on Etsy (that seller is no longer active, but this shop has you covered!), which was the sweet spot for our size room. And those 5 easy steps? It attaches 1 sand, 2 spots, 3 poles, 4 legs and – the best part – 5 enjoy!
For the stain color we chose Minwax in Special Walnut, which is not a nice-dark warm brown tone. As for the finish, we were excited to see that MinWax comes in a polycrik matte, something we’ve never noticed in our store (or maybe they’ve never carried it?), but either way, we totally do.

Admittedly, attaching the hairpin legs to the round table was the tricky part. We didn’t get too technical, but briefly, we found the center and used a pencil to draw a big X. At those four point ends, we measured about 1/2/in for each leg and screwed them down. With the screws provided
Because the stain and polish need to dry, the whole DIY takes a few days, but after all, it’s only a few hours of work! We wanted to show you how easy it can be, so we’ve wrapped it up in a video for the complete (yet quick!) process:
