Round Coffee Table Decor Ideas – Earlier this week, Bridget shared a beautiful rectangular coffee table in her family room. Obviously, I’m obsessed with the look since I have a tall version of this table as a dining table!
Because Bridget’s desk is so big, she had trouble writing it properly. You want it to work in your everyday life, but you also want it to look good. The struggle is real. While we were making the game for him to decorate his new desk, we realized that we haven’t really discussed coffee decorating here on the blog. And there are lots of tips to share!

First, it is important to adjust according to the size and shape of your coffee. I have a round coffee table in the family room (I still love this piece!) because all the furniture in our room has straight lines. We have a sectional with straight lines, a large straight dining table, and a large rectangular rug that takes up most of the room. Not to mention the construction-complete square and four rectangles. More straight lines!
The Truth About Coffee Tables And Why You Need One
That’s why I knew coffee tables were the way to go. It helped to lighten up the room and make things less stressful in here. But what do you put on your desk? Let’s dive into some of my tips…
Of course, we all want every surface in our home to be painted in perfect condition, but that’s not always the case in real life! So the first tip is to make sure that your coffee table works for you and your family. We don’t have kids or pets, so having a few “breakables” on the coffee table is nice. However, you may need to keep it on your coffee table for long periods of time, and rearrange it when entertaining or having guests over. That works too!
I always recommend putting a line on top of your coffee. In fact, I do the same at our dining room table. If you need a clear table, you simply raise the track and it is empty and empty in 2.5 seconds. If you have a round table, I recommend going with a square or rectangular table. Walking around wouldn’t be a good idea. However, a circular path can work well on a rectangular path (as shown by the path on the table in Room B).

My white tray is from West Elm and I love their selection (they have one of my small lacquer trays, square, rectangular, and round!). Target and HomeTools are also great assets on the tray. Just make sure you’re traveling big enough to fit everything you need to do.
Coffee needs good coffee books. I have had these 2 books here for quite some time, but I love the size of the colors. The book below was a gift from my mother… 100 photos from TIME magazine. It’s a beautiful book full of black and white photos taken over the past few years.
I feel like every web designer and designer uses this top book because the black and white back cover is a great tool. What a great back to add design to a boring table! If I ever write a book, I’ll make sure the spine is on point! The book is called, “The Elements of Style” and is written by blogger/designer, Erin Gates. Of course, I love publishing this book because of the beautiful spine, but I also love that it gives visitors my perspective on home love.

When choosing coffee table books, I believe it’s important to have something that makes sense to you. Of course, you want them to be the right size, strong, and have a back that works with your room… but the titles should also say a little about your story and your interests. Be careful with the books you choose.
I always like to put a drawing piece on top of a coffee table. For example, I have a box of marbles. This was a gift from a few years ago and is another piece from West Elm (this one looks similar). While the box is durable and beautiful, it also contains a secret storage.
Inside this box, we keep our playing cards and Uno cards. It’s nice to have some games when we’re hanging out in the family room and don’t feel like you’re just watching TV. Chests are great because they can hide things you might need in your family room. A big box can be a great place to escape from the distance and watch it.

I don’t know about you, but we are coaster people in our house. Since we got a new coffee table, I want to do everything I can to keep it looking good. Finn & I are always pulling water, and the worst thing is when the water glasses are sweaty and leave a ring in our house. That’s why we use coasters on every surface in our area.
If you want your guests to follow your lead and respect your furniture, style and beautiful coasters. They will immediately get the idea that you want them to use it. These marbles are from Crate & Barrel and we’ve had them forever! I always see the best in the best house, so be sure to check it out here.
Whenever I buy new flowers, I will often display them on our coffee table. It brightens up any room and adds freshness to the space. Lately, I’ve been on tulips…my favorite spring flower!

When I don’t have fresh flowers at home, I usually add greens to the table. This black vase and faux eucalyptus always get the job done on our coffee table.
A vase full of flowers (or greenery) adds height to a low table and brings color and freshness. I highly recommend not skipping this step when assembling a coffee table.
This is my go to formula when I need to decorate a coffee table. In fact, I did something similar in this living room. Trains, books, boxes, coasters, vases and greens… it works in any family room!
