Solid Walnut Coffee Table. Thin Man Mid Century Modern Coffee
This beautiful hardwood table top is crafted from gorgeous A-grade walnut stained teak hardwood. The tapered legs are hand-turned for a classic mid-century rustic-modern style. The legs screw into metal plates under the table top for the convenience of easy removal for storage/moving. The tabletop is slightly thinner at 7/8″ (22mm) instead of the standard 1″ (25mm) for a streamlined look and airy design. Finish and joinery details below.
The process of preparing and laminating all these blocks is extremely labor intensive, making it difficult to profit, but it is a labor of love for us. Seeing these blocks of reclaimed grade A hardwood turned into a unique table top makes it all worth it. The “bucher-block” designs created are not only incredibly gorgeous, but also rarely seen affordably in table size. Constructed this way, the table tops are also exceptionally stable – unlike tables made from wider and longer planks, which can twist, split and warp more easily due to changes in weather etc. Our tables are handcrafted one by one from solid hardwood that can last a lifetime and given a premium artisan finish with a natural wood look that is very easy to maintain.
Letting the gorgeous natural material speak for itself and using clean lines in our design means our furniture looks great in a wide variety of styles/contexts. It is also very easy to maintain as it is a ‘living finish’.
Mid Century Coffee Table
A vivid finish means you can touch up the table as needed throughout its life for any nicks or scratches. While our finish is a robust floor-style finish, some signs of use are inevitable. A simple on-app wipe that’s commonly available, Howard’s Restore a Finish can remove scratches and marks instantly and can be used anytime you want to refresh your table. Teak oil is an alternative, low-maintenance maintenance solution. A live finish also has an organic, satin look where the wood looks natural and organic – not like it’s wrapped in plastic and glossy.
The table top and legs are made of solid wood – there is no plywood or fiberboard in our furniture anywhere. There are steel plates already attached to the table for you – so all you have to do is slide them into the legs for an easy 60 second assembly. Because our table tops are a natural material, the grain and color vary, although that mosaic is unique and the inherent beauty of the piece. Our solid wood taper legs are hand-turned on a lathe in our shop, one by one, and are also made from reclaimed wood that shows a beautiful and unique character with natural patterns and color.

This item is currently shipping from Thailand. Although we are still a US registered, tax paying company with a warehouse in Portland, we are currently working from rural Thailand to support our elderly family here who are in need for the time being. We built a small temporary workshop on our family property and everything is still made by us as it was and always will be.

These are hand made to order so we will generally replace any item if there is a problem. That being said – we do accept returns as we wouldn’t want anyone to be unhappy with one of our pieces. However, there are some caveats. The item must be returned to us in perfect condition. The actual original shipping amount will not be refunded and in addition the buyer must pay for the shipping back to us. As such return is not an ideal solution for the buyer or seller. This item is shipped in a double-thick corrugated box to reach you safely. Finally, although it is extremely rare (due to the way we fill out the forms based on raw materials only), if a customs duty is imposed as per standard practice, it is the buyer’s responsibility to pay the duty. This varies from country to country, but in general, if there is a charge, it should be small, as again we are only claiming the value as raw material.

I love this table basse. Le bois est magnifique et j’adore la construction minimaliste. The expedition was assez rapide et la mise en place était super facile. I made allers-retours sur la taille à obtenir, mais j’ai finale choisi la plus grande des deux et je suis vraiment content de l’avoir fait. La longueur supplémentaire de 6 pouces makes a real difference, especially if you use livres or de petites plantes comme pièces maîtresses.
I love this coffee table. The wood is beautiful and I love the minimalist construction. Delivery was quite fast and set up was very simple. I went back and forth about which size to get, but in the end I went with the larger of the two and I’m so glad I did. The extra 6 inches in length really makes a difference, especially if you’re using books or small plants as centerpieces.
