1) Choose your leg height – standard dining table height is about 30″ finished total height (wood top + metal legs). If your tabletop is 1.5″-3″ thick, then a 28″ base is fine. If you need slightly shorter or slightly taller legs, drop us a note and we’ll be happy to adjust the size.

We also offer coffee table/bench legs with a height of 16.5 inches. Again, let us know if you need a shorter or taller coffee table or bench.

2) Choose your leg width – we generally recommend that your wood top hangs about 3-5 inches from each side of the legs, for a total of 6-10 inches. For example, if your top is 38 inches wide, choose a leg width that is 28-32 inches wide. Let us know if you need wider or narrower legs than those offered on the list!

3) CHOOSE YOUR FINISH – We offer the legs in matte black powder coat, clear coat finish or raw steel finish.

Powder coating your legs not only provides color but also protects your legs from rusting over time. Our most popular color is matte black, so this is our go-to color. However, we do offer other colors for an additional fee, so if you have other ideas, please feel free to send us a custom request.

Our clear coat finish provides a more rustic industrial look and shows all the details of the original metal (including wear marks and imperfections). We recommend this option if you want the look of raw steel but want to protect your legs from rust.

Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table / Industrial U Shaped Metal Legs

If you prefer to paint the legs yourself or leave them completely untouched, choose our raw steel option. Raw steel does not have any protective coating, so it will rust over time. If you choose the raw steel option, we highly recommend that you use a 2-in-1 paint and primer at home for metals such as Rust-Oleum or Rust-Oleum Clearcoat. For a more eco-friendly option, you can prevent rust by applying a thin layer of beeswax to your legs.

I recycled our 150+ year old hickory porch wood to create this gorgeous harvest table! Absolutely love this piece. 10 people, but we need 6 more chairs, ha. The young couple did an excellent job of making the legs of the table and bench. My only constructive feedback is for the smaller bench legs, the pilot holes match the table size legs. I had to enlarge the holes with a little bit so I could line up the screws with the countersunk head fasteners which are stronger and better for furniture and certainly better than wood screws, which is what I suspect the pilot holes were originally designed for. The bench is 84 inches long and weighs 45 pounds. Ordinary wood screws are not enough! Otherwise, highly recommend these guys! cheers
